Walton
Walton-on-Thames is situated opposite Shepperton on the River Thames and is the site of one of Surrey's crossing points over the river.
The town centre has recently seen the addition of a large retail and residential development which includes a Sainsbury's supermarket.
XCel, a new leisure centre, opened on Waterside Drive in summer 2006. The centre includes 25m and 20m swimming pools, sports halls and a climbing wall.
Riverhouse Barn is an arts venue located close to the Thames on Manor Road. Town centre entertainment includes a Screen cinema on the High Street.
Access to the motorway network is via junction 11 of the M25 at Chertsey, J1 of the M3 at Sunbury, or the A3 trunk road which passes to the south of the town. There are main-line train stations for London Waterloo at Walton station (just under a mile/1.5km south of the town centre), and neighbouring Hersham and Weybridge.
