Caterham is located in east Surrey.

The town is centered around the junction of Station Avenue with Croydon road and Godstone Road. The town centre includes Waitrose and Morrisons supermarkets, a library and East Surrey Museum. There is also a showroom for Caterham Cars, manufacturer of the Caterham 7 sports car.

The main town centre is known as Caterham Valley. There is also a second smaller centre, Caterham Hill, around half a mile uphill.

Caterham railway station in the town centre provides services to London Bridge. The A22 road gives access to the M25 at Junction 6, whilst junction 7 of the M23 motorway is to the west of the town.
