Englefield Green
Englefield Green is located between Egham and Virginia Water in the north of Surrey and is on the edge of Windsor Great Park.
At the centre of the village on St Jude's Road are St Jude's Church (shown opposite) and a small number of shops including a convenience store. There are also some shops on Victoria Street, which runs east from St Jude's Road, otherwise Egham and Staines are the primary local shopping centres.
There are two university campuses on either side of the village. Royal Holloway, University of London is located to the South on the A30, whilst a campus of Brunel University is on Coopers' Hill to the North. Also on Cooper's Hill are three memorials: at the top of the hill is the Air Forces Memorial, whilst at the foot of the hill (a short distance from the River Thames) are the Magna Carta and JFK memorials.
Details of local events can be found on the community noticeboard near St Jude's Church. The Bishopsgate entrance to Windsor Great Park is to the north-west of the village - around 20 mins walk into the Park from Bishopsgate is the start of the Long Walk for impressive views to Windsor Castle.
The A30 runs on the south-east side of the village and can be used to access Egham (for Egham railway station), Junction 13 of the M25, and Heathrow Airport.
