Cranleigh is situated in the south of Surrey and is one of a number of claimants to the title of largest village in England.

The village centre around the High Street includes an M&S food store and a Sainsburys supermarket on Stocklund Square. Also on the High Street is Cranleigh Arts Centre offering films, music and theatre productions.

To the south-west of the village is Dunsfold Aerodrome (part of Dunsfold Park), which was formerly owned by British Aerospace and is now a private aerodrome and the filming location for the BBC motoring programme Top Gear.

The former railway route from to Guildford, which ran just south of the village centre, was closed in 1966. The disused line now forms part of the Downs Link between St Martha's Hill near Guildford and Shoreham on the south coast. The Downs Link is open for walking, horse riding and cycling.

There is no railway station in Cranleigh, though stations are accessible by road at Guildford or Godalming (on the Portsmouth to London Waterloo line), Shalford (on the Reading to Redhill line) and Ockley (on the Horsham to London Victoria line).

The nearby A281 provides road access to Guildford for the A3 trunk road.
